Privacy Statement
The Stillbirth Foundation Australia (SFA) respects your privacy and values the relationship we have with you.
For the purposes of this policy, ‘personal information’ means information or an opinion (including information or an opinion forming part of a database), whether true or not, and whether in recorded in a material form or not, about any individual, sponsor, donor, consumer, customer supplier, volunteer or any other person (excluding SFA’s employees), whose identity is apparent, or can reasonably be ascertained, from the information or opinion.
This policy applies to individuals.
Security of information
When purchasing from, or donating to, SFA, your financial details are passed through a secure server, which meets current industry standards.
Information gathered
SFA gathers two types of information about users:
(a) personal data that is provided voluntarily upon our request, such as when you make a donation or purchase merchandise from us.
(b) aggregated data generated by our systems, which track traffic to and on our sites. This kind of data is not linked to you individually.
Personal information that SFA may request might include your name, age, gender, location and/or country information.
For those wishing to register a stillborn child on our We Remember page, we may also request information about your baby, including their name, date of birth and parents’ names.
For some interactions we may also request credit card or other financial information required to process donations or purchases such as merchandise, tickets or event attendance.
Aggregated tracking information helps us to determine which areas of the SFA site that users find most useful, based on traffic to those areas. This helps us to provide a better and more responsive service to you.
Please note that failure to provide necessary personal information when requested may prevent SFA from processing a donation or online shop purchase.
Use of personal information
SFA uses personal information to (a) respond to your requests, (b) evaluate the quality of our services or products, (c) to communicate with you, (d) to notify you of and administer offers, contests, upcoming events and other promotions, (e) for internal administrative and analytical purposes, and (f) to comply with our legal obligations, policies and procedures.
Off-shore storing of your personal information
We use data hosting facilities to assist us with storing of personal information. As a result, your personal information may be transferred to, and stored at, a destination outside Australia.
If your personal information is collected using a collection notice that references this Privacy Policy, you are taken to consent to the disclosure, transfer, storing or processing of their personal information outside of Australia. You also acknowledge and understand that by providing such consent that we will not be required to take such steps as are reasonable in the circumstances to ensure such third parties comply with the Australian Privacy Principles.
Quality and correction of personal information
SFA takes reasonable steps to ensure that personal information collected by SFA is relevant for the purposes for which it is collected, and that information is accurate, complete and current. Individuals may correct their personal information by contacting SFA (please see Contact Us section for details).
Direct marketing
SFA will comply with the Australian Privacy Principles in connection with direct marketing to individuals, by obtaining consent from individuals for such marketing whenever reasonable, practical and feasible. We will also honour requests to cease such marketing submitted properly through the simple means provided by SFA for such requests.
SFA will provide the individual with the source from which SFA received the individual’s personal information upon request, unless it is impractical or unreasonable to do so.
Anonymity and pseudonymity
You have the right to deal with SFA without using your true name but in doing so you may prevent us from providing services to you.
Other websites
SFA’s website contains links to other sites, which may follow different privacy policies and practices. These sites may send their own cookies to you and as a result may collect data and ask for your personal information.
SFA takes no responsibility for other sites, their policies or procedures, and accepts no liability or responsibility for any consequences that may arise from such contact.
